I feel it is important for me to be honest in giving this review, and I pray it is helpful as it is intended, but I feel generous in giving our experience a one star rating, but you can't choose zero stars! I grew up in church and my dad was a bi-vocational pastor for several years and my husband and I have have served in a couple of churches before moving to this area. Our experience at The Vale Church was spooky! There has to be more to this story than what you see! How can a huge church like this be so empty on a Sunday morning. It looks like it should hold 3,000 people and it may have had 500. There is always be a reason for this! I encourage anyone considering this church to dig a little deeper. Usually you will find some sorted past sins that have not been dealt with Biblically. Often it is former acts of deception, lying, covering up of sin, or lack of transparency from the leadership. We have seen this before and most of the congregation is probably very unaware or worse, just act like those things are normal.

The people we talked to were nice and seemed very excited we were visiting, but it was full of older people and the service did not have much life. We sat in the middle section towards the back and had no one under the age of 60 within 5 pews either way! Our kids are going into third and fifth grades and did not enjoy the service at all. Way over their heads and way too long!!!!

We both felt like the pastor was trying to say something under the radar to this congregants without coming right out and saying it. He talked a lot about the church members should be more forgiving, more kind, and more loving to impact the world by being a "better" church. He seemed to be frustrated and judging the people for not being better Christians! He talked a very long time and then gave the Lord's Supper, but even then preached another message. My husband and I got the impression that he does not seem to connect to the people in the crowd. It feels like he could do the same message with an empty room. Seems very self absorbed and self promoting. Maybe a better way to say it would be to he talks "down" to the people not as "one of" the people. Our impression was that he feel like he is the example of what God wants and that everyone should be more like him. If that is true, it is a very prideful position and is not healthy or Biblical! Sorry to be so harsh, but something is just not right in that place. We felt a spirit of religiousness and not the Spirit of The Lord! He sounds like he expects Christians to perform in being good believers. That is religion that even Christ hated and called out in the Pharisees! Please be advised and be prayerful before proceeding! I pray I have honored the Lord is sharing my concerns about our experience and I pray that I am wrong!

  • I love my Church family at Sunnyvale Baptist Church (AKA the Vale). The ladies here have shown Christ's love to me. The teaching is so biblical and Pastor Adam has a shepherd's heart. It is always evident. The music is worshipful. Go online and watch or go on the radio and listen. Come and follow Jesus!

  • The perfect blend of music to set the tone for worship and then a message brought that is relevant to today, but at the same time soundly based on scripture. Preaching the Word of God never ceases to move me and reveal a greater understanding of God!

  • We love Sunnyvale, First Baptist Church. We are members of an incredible Sunday School class and the staff is amazing. Our kids are active in the Youth Ministry and the Youth Minister, Jeremy Fisher, is the best there is. Pastor Adam Dooley is a gifted preacher! Come join us, you won't be disappointed.

  • I've been attending this church for the past several months and love the biblically sound teaching and worship! With multiple kids, my wife and I also appreciate and value how the children's ministry has blessed our kids. I'd highly recommend you visit this church if you're in the Sunnyvale area and are looking for a great local church!
